Message from the President

As members of the Centenary College community anticipate a third century of providing students with a superior liberal arts education, we consider what resources will be needed to sustain the enduring educational mission of the College and support our faculty, staff, and students in pursuit of that goal. Those considerations inform FORWARD: The Campaign for Our Third Century.

Since its beginning in 1825 as the College of Louisiana, Centenary has been recognized for educating students to become thoughtful, productive members of their communities. The merger with Methodist affiliated Centenary College to become Centenary College of Louisiana in 1840 brought with it the Wesleyan passion for education that survives to this day. Wesley’s philosophical influence is apparent in Centenary’s promotion of lifelong learning, learning in community, physical and spiritual health, and service to others as well as the conviction that education should be available for all without exception.

These enduring principles are the foundation upon which Centenary’s academic and co-curricular programs are built. Resting on this foundation are five pillars identified in our 2023 strategic plan, BOLD AT THE BICENTENNIAL:

• Grow Enrollment
• Provide an Engaging Student Experience
• Be a Great Place to Work
• Engage and Serve the Community
• Be Excellent Academically

Providing the facilities and programming to advance this learning into Centenary’s third century drive this campaign and the five pillars of the strategic plan inform its contents. Please review the campaign projects described on this site, and consider how you might support the efforts that will move us forward to our third century.
